Furniture Restoration

Bringing wood back to life is a passion of Fine Wood Designs.  Whether it's an antique family treasure that needs some TLC or a furniture find thats a bargain too good to miss, we can repair, restore, clean and re-wax it back to its former glory.  We can even change its use - simply contact us with the details and we'll advise you on the best approach.

This high-backed chair that was originally attached to a lectern, has been separated to make a useable chair. A new plinth under the seat was added - it was then cleaned and rewaxed.

High Backed Chair



This Dark Oak mirror containing fretwork and carving originally formed part of a lectern. It was separated from the lectern, cleaned, stained and a mirror added.

This c.1900 solid Oak music cabinet originally had 2 doors - the clients brief was to create a unit to house his CD collection in a more manageable way. Dovetail drawers with Oak cross-banding veneers were made to replace the two doors and stained to match the original patina. The piece was then cleaned and re-waxed.

Revival Style Sideboard

This heavily carved solid Oak sideboard had suffered neglect. Restoration included a good clean and replacement of missing beading to lower section.

This simple style Oak drawer unit was carefully disassembled, sanded to its natural finish and new handles were fitted to give a contemporary look. It is now used to store DVD's.

This bevel edged mirror was taken from a dressing table set of drawers. Simply cleaned, re-waxed and is now hung as a mirror in a hallway and the small drawer used as key storage.

Two different sets of Solid Oak chests of drawers were stripped and sanded. New plinths were machined and added.

This English Oak pew is around 100 years old from a church in the Bradford area. The Pew was originally over 3 meters long and was carefully disassembled, shortened to a more useable size, cleaned and rewaxed.
